Karwar: According to the new guidelines of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), Karnataka will also get some relaxation like Goa and this will help for the development of tourism on the beaches across the district, stated Deputy Commissioner K Harish Kumar.
He noted this while chairing the meeting of District Tourist Places Development & Protection Committee held at his office in the City on Saturday.
He said, the CRZ which had become an obstacle for the tourism on beaches has now given some relaxation. This will be helpful for the setup of cottages and other tourism activities like Goa.
Already, various measures have been taken for the promotion of tourism in the district including implementation of some schemes and there is need for proper maintainanc, he said and directed the
assistant commissioners of the district to give new proposals for the development of tourism.
He asked the departments concerned to check the possibilities of conducting scuba diving at another part of Netrani in Murdeshwar. Along with that he directed the Scuba Diving Centre, which has got approval at Light House in Karwar to organise scuba activities on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, some officials brought the issue of training activities being conducted by the Naval Force at Netrani without any prior information, which has created a tensed environment among the tourists. In his reply, the deputy commissioner said that he will hold discussions with the Navy officials in this regard.
He said, an action plan should be prepared for the movement of the boat house at Aghanashini river. The tender should be invited from the interested agencies.
The foreign tourists are showing interest in microlights and hand gliding, which is similar to paramotor gliding and there are many opportunities for the conduct of aerial activities in Karwar. Hence, a proposal should be received from Dr Vaidya, who is presently conducting paramotor gliding activity in Karwar, said the deputy commissioner.
