Bhatkal: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D K Shivakumar was given a rousing welcome at Shamsuddin Circle in Bhatkal by hundreds of Congress workers.
D K Shivakumar reached Karwar on Friday evening from where he reached Sirsi on Saturday morning and attended a meeting with Congress workers. It is learned that he gave necessary instructions to the workers in Sirsi to strengthen the Congress party in Uttara Kannada district.
Passing through Kumta and Honnavar, he reached Bhatkal at around 7.30 PM, where Congress workers had already gathered at Shamsuddin Circle to witness his arrival. As his convoy reached the circle, people chanted slogans in support of the Congress and DK Shivakumar. On this occasion, DK Shivakumar requested the Congress workers of Bhatkal to do their utmost to strengthen the party in Bhatkal.
During his visit to Bhatkal, President of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem SM Parvez, Bhatkal Municipal President Parvez Khasimji, Bhatkal Block Congress President Santosh Naik, Congress Leader Narayan Naik and many others were present.
DK Shivakumar's convoy stopped at Bhatkal for about three minutes, then it left for Kundapur under police protection.
