Karkala, Jun 24: The forest department which creates awareness to protect environment, has cut two huge trees in front of the court here and left the logs and leaves there.

Social activists had submitted a request to the municipal council saying that the trees may fall on school children during the monsoons. The municipality wrote to the forest department and requested to take action on it.

Senior advocate M K Vijayakumar said that the work was done in a haste and the department is violating rules concerning cleanliness. Forest official Rajshekar said that the work was delayed due to office work and the trees will be removed in a week.
