Yellapur: The journalists should give news and stories based on facts and proper details and they should not criticise someone just to take vengeance, advised Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar.
He was speaking after inaugurating Yallapur unit of the Karnataka Journalists Union at a programme held at APMC Raitha Sabhabhavana in Yallapur on Sunday.
He also advised that journalists should think twice before writing something and should focus on positive stories.
He said, the journalists are working amidst several challenges. Many journalists are facing lack of service security and other problems. The State Government has been appealed to provide the required facilities to the journalists. Many incidents of assault on journalists took place. Hence, they should be protected as they play a vital role in the democratic system, he opined.
Panchayat Raj decentralised planning & development committee State vice-president Pramod Hegde suggested the government to set up Ramakrishna Hegde study chair at Karnatak University, Dharwad.
Town Panchayat President Sunand Das, Karnataka Journalists Union State Treasurer B M Shivarudrayya, district president Manmohan Naik, and others were present.
Senior journalists N S Hegde Kundaragi, Vanarag Sharma, Anant Vaidya, Sriranga Katti, and Biranna Nayak Mogata were feliciated on the occasion.
