Hubballi: MP Pralhad Joshi and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar met Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi on Wednesday, and urged him to speed up the implementation of railway projects in North Karnataka region.

They also urged Mr Prabhu to conduct a meeting in Hubballi to review the progress of railway projects in the region.

Completion of Hubballi-Chikjajur line doubling work by 2019, Hubballi-Varanasi and Hubballi-Mangaluru new trains, Hubballi-Bengaluru high-speed train, and naming Dharwad-Mysuru Express train after Siddharooda Swamiji were also demanded.

Mr Joshi and Mr Shettar also met Railway Board Chairman A K Mittal and discussed with him, said a press release.
