In unifying gesture, Bhatkal's Jamia Masjid opens doors for Non-Muslim brothers

Bhatkal: The people of our country, though politically conflicting at times, are harmonious and warm at heart, every now and then, which instills hope. In yet another welcoming move, the famous Jamia Masjid of Bhatkal opened its doors for non-Muslim brothers on Sunday, February 2.

The initiative taken by Jamaat Ul Muslimeen Bhatkal, promoted interfaith dialogue and helped visitors mingle inside the mosque, while learning about the Muslim culture.

Visitors included people from all walks of life including journalists, politicians, scholars, businessmen etc. The visit included the tour of the mosque, prayers and observation, followed by dinner.

Speaking to the visitors, Udupi District Muslim Okkuta President, Mohammad Yaseen Malpe, provided complete information regarding the Mosque, Azan, Ablution and Prayers in Kannada language and informed the non-Muslim guests that the Mosque is the center of communal harmony and equality.

Expressing his gratitude on the initiative, Ex MLA of Bhatkal, J D Naik, said that lack of confidence is playing a vital role in disturbing the harmony. He said that we should make all the possible initiatives to bring Hindus and Muslims together with brotherhood.  

General Secretary of Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi academy Maulana Ilyaz Jakti Nadvi gave introductory speech to the guests, SahilOnline Kannada journalist Raza Manvi explained the meaning of Azan following the Isha Azan. The Non-Muslim brothers then had an observation over the Isha prayers. Jamaat Ul Muslimeen Bhatkal general secretary Maulana Talha Ruknaddin  welcomed the guests, Abdul Sami compered the event, and Muhammad Shafi Shabandari Patel gave vote of thanks.

On this occasion, Jamaat Ul Muslimeen Bhatkal vice-president SJ Hasham, Chief Quazi Maulana Iqbal Mulla Nadvi, Deputy Quazi Maulana Abdul Aleem Qazia Nadvi, Moger community leader KM Karki and others were present.
