House on fire in Mungod

Mundgod: A house was reduced to ashes when fire broke out at Shinganahalli village in Mundgod taluk. According to the police,  household items, clothes and other valuables of four families staying in the house were gutted on the fire.

The loss is estimated at Rs 36 lakh. Sources said fire was broke out during food preparation, which soon spread to the first floor of the house, where wood and agricultural equipment were stored. The fire then spread to the entire house. The house was constructed about 40 years ago with teak wood. Efforts of villagers to douse the flames went in vain. Later the fire brigade extinguished the flames and stoped to spread surrounding houses.
