Bhatkal: Host Madeena wins the inaugural T20 Cup for the first time in the history of Bhatkal by beating Azaad by five wickets in the Final on Saturday at Anfa Kola Ground, Bhatkal.
After their bowlers restricted Azaad to 129 runs, Man of the final Ziya Quazi scored a 49 runs to take Madeena home with easy win.
Zia Quazi was in supreme touch as he scored on 49 off 26 balls, which included one six and ten fours. Madeena then raced to the target of 130 with five wickets in hands and in just 16.4 overs.
Earlier, Azaad top order batsman were totally failed to get runs on board, Middle order batsman Arshad Khambara (39) and Mahesh (41) played crucial role in the end to reach to a modest total of 129.
Emerging player Shamoon Shabandri (30/2), Naman (14/2) and Zaid (19/2) shared six wicket.
Total 34 teams were participated in the tournament. The tournament was began on 11th November 2016.
The function began with the recitation of verses from the holy Qur'an by Abdullah, followed Naat by students of Jamia Islamia and a ‘Madeena Anthem' by Abdullah Razi, CA Abdul Manan welcomed the gathering and Hussain Barmwar compeered the event.
Madeena Senior Member Ameer Basha, Tayyab Siddibapa and Imtiyaz were also honoured on the occasion.
Madeena welfare society President Professor HM Zarzari Preside over the function.
Sameer Momin, Iqbal Pathan and Zuhair Pathan were commentators for the tournament.
On the occasion,Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation President Imtiyaz Udaywar, General Secretary Moulana Irfan SM, Sports Director BMYF Naseef Khalifa, Nazeem Nilawar, Abdul Azeem Shaikh, Aftab Damudi, Abdul Musba, Convener Sajid Musba, Sports Secretary Shams Tabrez and many others were present.
