Karwar: Hindu Jagarana Vedike State Unit President BS Pai said district units of the Vedike will submit a memorandum to deputy commissioners of all district, on July 13, demanding setting up of special investigation team or handing over the case of DySP Ganapathi’s suicide to CBI.

Briefing reporters, here on Tuesday, he had warned that if the state government fails to take appropriate steps in the coming days, the Vedike will be forced to intensify its protest adding that the Vedike has decided to stage a huge rally against the government on July 14 in Kodagu.

Upright officer

Pai said State former’s Home Minister KJ George had been targeting Ganapathi for his upright duty during the 2008 Church attacks in Mangaluru, where the deceased police officer, was posted as inspector.

Ganapathi has taken strict action against those who has pelted stones on the police officials and booked cases against few Christians also. This had made George target him. "In an interview, given to local channel he took his life, Ganapathi had revealed it all. Based on his revelation the SIT or CBI should file a case and investigate," he said.

He also demanded that George should either submit resignation or the CM should drop him from the cabinet till his name is cleared.

Pai said, " The government is also trying to mislead the investigation by stating that the deceased officer killed himself for the family reasons, which is wrong. The accused in this case are senior police officials and State government minister, there are very little chance of Ganapathi getting justice."

Vedike members Subash Gunagi and Vishnu Gayak were present in the presss meet.
