Karwar: “Following the defeat in the recently held assembly elections, the BJP has realised that it cannot win the Lok Sabha elections. Hence, its MP from Uttara Kannada and Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde has started making derogatory comments against others,” alleged District Congress Committee president Bheemanna Naik.

A day after Hegde’s controversial statement about Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s lineage, Naik told reporters here on Thursday that it is a known fact that the BJP is losing elections everywhere. Therefore, its leaders are making such comments against the Congress.

Being a lawmaker, Hegde should not have passed such comments against Gandhi, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and Deshpande, which is condemnable. “One should go for elections with a development agenda. Hegde has not done anything on development side as he has no such agenda.”

“Despite being the MP for the last 25 years, he has not brought funds for the development of the district. He does not have any motto other than disturbing peace and harmony in the society. He has not raised his voice for Hubballi-Ankola railway line. He is not concerned about the problems of fishermen, he said.

“Deshpande has brought funds for the district. Before pointing out at others, one should think about themselves and their work. People of the district will not tolerate antisocial speeches of Hegde anymore. They will teach him a lesson in the upcoming election,” he added.
