Bhatkal: Doctors, nurses and other staffs of the health department, who have been put off their duty past seven days staging a protest with their demands, expressed their outrage over the state government's silence by sitting on 'dharna' outside the Bhatkal Tahsildar's office on Saturday. They submitted the memorandum addressing to the government through Bhatkal Tahsildar Ravi Chandra.
In the memorandum, it was stated that the health workers serving on contract basis under the Department of Health, Department of Medical Education and National Health Program have decided to go on strike from September 26 until their 14 major demands including their salaries and other benefits were met. Anguished over not fulfilling the demands and alleging that the government haven't paid attention to them, the health workers decided to sit on 'Dharna' from today.
It has been informed that this protest shall be staged daily outside the Tahsildar's office in Bhatkal from 10.30 AM to 1 PM by the health workers till their demands aren't met.
