‘Haliyal government hospital ill equipped’

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 17:36:23    ENS

Haliyal (ENS): Suresh Talvar, a senior councilor of Haliyal TMC, alleged that the government hospital in Haliyal town has no stock of essential anti-rabies and anti-venom vaccines.

At the monthly general body meeting of the council, he accused the hospital doctors of prescribing medicines to be bought from outside. This gives room for suspicion of a nexus between them and the owners of medical shops.

The rural patients are not getting proper treatment and the entire activities of the hospital are in doldrums, he said. He urged the civic body chief to take immediate steps to streamline the functioning of the hospital.

Councilors Subani Hubballi and Shankar Belgaonkar spoke in support of Talvar. MLC S L Ghotnekar, who was present in the meeting, and civic chief Umesh Bolshetty assured the councilors of taking immediate steps to ensure proper services in the hospital.

A decision was taken to get the stray dogs in the town sterilized.
