Kalburgi: At least eight people were killed and five others injured when a lorry collided with a car at Aland in Kalburgi district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the car was trying to overtake another vehicle when it collided a lorry coming from opposite direction. The driver of the car and the lorry escapsed soon after the incident.

The deceased were identified as Gajabai Engley, Sonpal Dogley, Krishna Sanjay Engley, Phool chand Dharme, Varsha Dogley, Sanjay Engley, Shantabai Engley and Sugachbai Alandey.

All the victims, hailing from Osmanabad district in Maharashtra were on their way to Ganagapur Dattatreya temple when the accident took place in Aland town. The injured were rushed to Kalburgi district hospital.
