Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai Tuesday said GST collection in the state is improving compared to last fiscal.
"By God's grace the GST collection compared to last year is improving," he told reporters.
There are signs of further improvement in the financial condition of the state if a third wave of Coronavirus does not hit the state, Bommai said.
Since there has been no total lockdowns this year, there is continuity of economic activity in the state, he added.
Replying to a query Bommai said he has directed the officials to cut down the administrative costs and spend more on main schemes.
"If administrative and maintenance costs are cut down, enough development can take place, he said.
In his last visit to Delhi, Bommai had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and requested to extend the Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation period to states beyond 2022.
He had also asked for the payment of GST dues to the state in instalments.
Bommai also asked Sitharaman to increase allocation to the state under the 15th Finance Commission.
