Mangaluru: Opposing the Uniform Civil Code, Dakshina Kannada Muslim Central Committee and various Muslim organisations will organise a Shariyat conference for women at Town Hall here on December 20.

Shariyat Samrakshana Mahila Samavesha convener Sajida Mumin said Muslim Mahila Sahitya Sangha vice president Zohra Abbas will preside over the conference. Mumtaz Bin Samshuddin from SKSM Women's unit, Sabiha Fatima of Jama-ate Islami Hind Women's unit, Shahida Aslam of National Women's Front, Sunaina Asif of Uniwef women's unit, Muslim Personal Law Board member Dr Asma Zohra and others will take part in the programme and speak on the occasion.

She said the Uniform Civil Code will snatch away the religious rights which are given by the Constitution.

Conference co-convener Sayida Yusuf, Jamaate Islami Hind Women's unit member Shamira Jahan and Uniwef women's unit vice president Fatima Sharif were present at the press meet.
