Karwar: Due to lack of willingness by government, forest dwellers are yet to get ownership records. If government continues neglecting the issue, we will launch  'Namma Bhoomi, Namma Hakku' movement to ensure that our demands are met, said Karnataka Pranth Raitha Sangha district secretary, Shantaram Nayak. He was speaking after inaugurating a farmers convention at Hotegali village of Karwar taluk.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the government was dilly dallying in distribution of title records to the farmers and seeking 75-year-old documents from the forest dwellers and to those not submitting, applications are being rejected. Without title deeds, the forest dwellers are facing several challenges.

"The government has been bringing in new legislations and policies pushing the farmers into troubled waters. Now, it has rejected hundreds of applications and the Pranth Sangha is ready to help the victim go for an upper appeal." Nayak said.

The final decision on staging a protest demanding title deeds would be taken up during the farmers district meet to be held in Ankola on 9th and 10th April.

The meet would also shed light on restarting the Keravadi-Ulaga bridge, rejecting the Kasturi Rangan report, drought relief and adequate drinking water at rural places.
