Mangaluru: The officers of Mangaluru Air Customs arrested two persons who were smuggling gold, at Mangaluru International Airport.
According to officials, 851 grams of gold worth Rs 39.48 lakh was seized. Fousiya Missiriya Moideen Kunhi, aged 33 years, was travelling along with her husband Moideen Kunhi Cheroor, aged 44 years and four children. They hail from Cheroor in Kasargod.
They arrived at Mangaluru airport from Dubai. The gold was smuggled by concealing it in the specially designed inner garment of the lady passenger. Further investigation is in progress.
The operation was led by Avinash Kiran Rongali, Deputy Commissioner, Customs.
