Gokarna: Brahmarathotsava of Lord Mahabaleshwara was held in a grand manner at Gokarna on Monday. The event was held on the occasion of Mahashivaratri and hundreds of devotees enthusiastically pulled the chariot amid the chants of Shivanama.

Raghaveshwar Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Mutt and Shivanand Saraswati Swamiji of Kaivalya Mutt performed the ‘Rathakanike’.

The idol of the main deity of Gokarna Lord Mahabaleshwara was decorated for the Rathotsava that was held on the main street of Gokarna. After pulling the chariot till Venkatramana Temple, it was taken back to the starting point. The antique chariot, known for its extraordinary height, was decorated with colourful flags and torans. Police and Revenue Department officials were present on the occasion and looked after security aspects.
