Haliyal: Congress MLC S L Ghotnekar said, all the allegations levelled against him by BJP leader and former MLA Sunil Hegde are totally false and baseless.

Addressing the media, Ghotnekar denied violating any rule while constructing the Naganath temple and the SLG English medium school near the Government Pre-University College here. He asked Hegde to set right his own position before entering into mudslinging. The Congress leader alleged that it was due to Hegde’s mismanagement as chief of the now defunct Haliyal Urban Co-operative Bank that the bank literally went bankrupt and similarly, it was again Hegde as the then civic chief of Haliyal that the local body came to a tragic state.

Ghotnekar alleged that, Hegde was adept in looting every organisation of which he became the chief and being a class-I civil contractor, he has pocketed many contracts through dubious means. He dared Hegde to prove his allegations or face a defamation case.
