Bhatkal: In a road accident that happened near to Nishaat hospital on NH-66 in Bhatkal in the early hours of Wednesday, a speeding gas tanker toppled and fell off the highway. 

The driver, Ajay Yadav, 25, escaped with minor injuries.

Sources informed that the mishap happened when the tanker was heading towards Mangalore from Goa. A panic gripped up in the region for sometime after the incident as there exist many houses, offices, shops and banks in the area. However, the tanker was empty, which made the residents take a sigh of relief.

As the information was alerted, Bhatkal town police rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigation.
