Dharwad: Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said that free Wi-Fi service has been launched in various parts of the twin-cities under the MPLAD funds as part of the Union government's ambitious Digital India programme.
He was speaking after inaugurating the free Wi-Fi hotspot at Kadapa Grounds near Alur Venkatarao Circle in Dharwad on Friday.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisages to create a corruption-free society by empowering people with digital information. He asked everyone to utilise the benefit of internet and understand the various benefits of government. For this, the free Wi-Fi service has been launched, he said.
"Internet will become essential for various services for common people, especially youths. It will be helpful for students to prepare for competitive exams," he said and added that people using the free Wi-Fi can book their railway, bus and other tickets.
BSNL General Manager Vivek Jaiswal, Corporators Poorna Patil, Nirmala Javali, Shivu Hiremath, Vijayananad Shetty, Balaram and others were present.
