Kumta: Four youths from Bangalore, drowned in the Arabian sea at Kagal village in Kumta on Saturday afternoon. The bodies of two of the victims have been recovered. They have been identified as Arjun Wasudev (23), a resident of Kasturinagar and Chaitrashri Gopal M (22) of Peenya 2nd cross. The remaining two who still missing are identified as Kiran Kumar Mariraj G (27), a resident of Kanakapura and Tejas Damodar A (22) of JP Nagar.
All four got pulled into the sea by strong waves who were part of a group of 80 people from a Chartered accountancy training firm, who had come to Kagal beach, Kumta and had stepped into the sea despite being warned of choppy waters.
According to sources, Arjun and Kiran Kumar were employees of the firm and the rest were undergoing CA training.
The sea is rough and even fishermen are not allowed to venture into deep waters for fishing by the authorities. Despite this, the group went for a swim.
Kumta police who rushed to the spot soon after the incident are still searching for the two missing youths with the help of the fire brigade.
