Udupi: A leopard walked into a trap laid by Forest officials at Ammunje of Uppoor in this Karnataka district on Saturday.

Forest officials said that 10 days ago, a CCTV footage had captured images of a leopard jumping the electric fence of a plantation, owned by entrepreneur Rathnakar D Shetty.

Keeping in mind the safety of villagers, the Forest officials had placed a cage to capture the leopard. The officials later released the big cat inside the forest at Hulikal Ghat, they added.
