Karwar: Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Arun Chakravarthy said he has instructed the Uttara Kannada police to pay attention to prevent crime.

During his first visit to the district on Monday after being appointed as the IGP of Western Range, Chakravarthy said he held a meeting of all the officers of the department and issued directions in this regard.

Patrolling would be intensified in order to prevent crime and the habitual offenders would be watched closely. When asked about the need for setting up a cyber-crime police station in view of growing such crimes in Bhatkal, he said there is no proposal before the government in this regard, but he would do the needful.

On incidents of Pakistani nationals living in Bhatkal on visa going out without informing the police, he said necessary actions would be taken against such persons. He instructed Superintendent of Police C Vamsi Krishna to look into the matter.

Chakravarthy said, women’s police station was sanctioned to the district, but its establishment was delayed due to technical issues. The district would soon get the station, he added.
