Karwar: As many as 36 tourist boat drivers and adventure water sport teams of the district underwent a three-day training programme on rescue operation. First aid and other life saving techniques, at Gokarna and Murdeshwar. Adventure water sports were introduced in Karwar, Gokarna and Murdeshwar beaches, and many hotels and firms in these places cater to tourists. But since they lack training in lifesaving lack training in lifesaving skills, the District Administration and Tourism Department organized the workshop which concluded on Tuesday.
Experts from the National Lifesaving Association and Varanashi Foundation had been training the participants for the last two days at Om beach and Kudle beach. On the third day, all of them visited Murdeshwar. The participants were trained in rescuing drowning tourists in sea, removing sea water from human body, first aid and other techniques.
