Karwar: A storeroom at BSNL office near SP office in the city caught fire and furniture and computers worth thousands of rupees and some important files were destroyed in the incident on Friday afternoon.

According to sources, a room on the second floor of the BSNL office on the MG Road stored files, old furniture and computers . In the afternooon, due to short circuit files in the room caught fire. The office staff informed the police and the fire brigade about the same.

With the timely intervention of fire fighters, the fire was doused and no one sustained injuries in the incident.

This is second fire incident in the city involving government building. Recently Zilla Panchayath CEO Office was caught fire in the city.
