Bhatkal: Fayyaz Mulla was elected as the chairman of the standing committee in Bhatkal Town Municipal Council. He had already been nominated for the post with the support of the Socio-political organization Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem. He was elected chairman of the standing committee unopposed in a meeting held at the Municipality on Saturday.

Councilor Abdul Azeem Mohtasham nominated Fayyaz Mulla for the election of the chairman of the standing committee in meeting chaired by Municipal President Parvez Qasimji at around 5 PM. Raghavendra Shet and Ismail Imshad Mukhtesar supported the nomination, after which Fayyaz Mulla elected unopposed.

It may be recalled that Fayyaz Mulla, a social worker, is a councilor of Ward No. 20 comprising Takhia Street, Ghousia Street and adjoining areas. This is his third term as a councilor in the Municipality.

On his election for the post of chairman of standing committee, Bhatkal TMC councilors congratulated him and expressed best wishes. Bhatkal TMC Vice President Qaisar Mohtasham, Councilors Mohiuddiin Altaf Kharuri, Farzana Younus Khan, Asiya Nida Siddibapa, Zareen Abdul Basit Golte and Priya Fernandez and many others were present.
