Karwar: A sloth bear attacked a farmer at his field at Kudambi village in Mundgod taluk on Friday, said police. The farmer said to have lost one of his fingers in his left hand in the attack. According to a complaint filed at the Mundgod police station, around 7 am on Friday, Channaveerayya Venkatapurmath (38) went to his field. After half an-hour, a bear entered his field and attacked him. He also sustained injuries on his head, face, back and legs. Hearing his screaming, farmer of his neighboring fields came to his rescue and the sloth bear fled the scene. The farmers took him to the village, called an ambulance and shifted him to the Government Hospital in Mundgod. He is undergoing treatment now. The doctors clarified that he is recovering. A case has been registered at the Mundgod police station.
