Kumta: A well-known senior chartered accountant of Uttara Kannada District, G S Kamath, passed away on Friday. He was 77 years old. He was ill for the last few days.

GS Kamath, a resident of Kumta, was known as an expert and experienced chartered accountant. He was also popular as a social worker. Apart from being the founder of the Kumta Rotary Club, he was also the founding president of the famous Hangyo Ice Cream Company and the president of the Shri Krishna Milk Company. He was considered a close friend of former district in-charge Minister RV Deshpande.

On his demise, MLA Dinkar Shetty, former MLA Sharda Mohan Shetty, Congress leader Ravikumar Shetty, Mahalsa Handicraft's Devdas Shet, Chetan Shet, General Manager of Hangyo Ice Cream Pradeep Pai, and many prominent personalities of the district expressed their grief and sorrow.
