Hubballi: Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Mr K S Eshwarappa said on Saturday that it was good to implement a two-level system to effectively Administer Panchayat Raj System in the country, instead of the current three-level system.
To achieve that, a change in the country’s Constitution is necessary, he added.
Inaugurating a Rupees 1.4 (One point four) Crore new building for the office of the president, vice-president and other office-bearers of the Zilla Panchayat in Dharwad today, Mr Eshwarappa said that the currently followed Three level system is in accordance with the Constitution and following the Constitutional guidance is unavoidable.
Therefore, a proposal to make the necessary changes in the Constitution with regard to the above will be sent to the Center soon after discussing the matter in the next Cabinet meeting, he said and added that without amending the Constitution, Change in the current system is not possible.
State Minister for Major and Medium Industries and District in charge Minister, Mr Jagadish Shettar and Local BJP legislators Mr Amrut Desai and Mr Nimbannavar were present on the occasion.
