Honnavar: Education system which was earlier designed in such a way to help Britishers will improve by the National Education Policy-2020 implemented by Narendra Modi-led Union government, opined School Education and Literacy Minister B C Nagesh. 

Speaking after inaugurating the classrooms during the centenary celebration of Government Higher Primary School at Jalavalakarki of the taluk on Friday, he stated that the BJP government has contributed immensly to the education field and a priority has been accorded to the mother tounge. The National Education Policy will help make youths self-reliant besides imparting them Indial values, the minister told. 

Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegade Kageri said the work on revising textbooks with Indian perspective is going on. Including Bagavadgieet in textbook is a good development. Instead of becoming a tool to secure marks, the education should become a medium to teach culture, he opined.

MLA Sunil Naik presided. A hand written paper of the students and a souvenir of the centenary celebration were released on the occasion.
