KARWAR: The 'Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty’ award for journalistic services this year will be conferred to Gangadhar Hiregutti, editor of the well-known Kannada daily of Uttara Kannada district 'Karavali Munjavu'. The award will be given by Brahmavara Taluka Journalists Association. It shall be noted that the award is named after Raghuram Shetty, the late editor of ‘Mungaaru’ newspaper.
Addressing the press conference, Chatur Prabhakar, President of the Brahmavar Taluka Journalists Association, told that the award would be given to Gangadhar Hiregutti this year. He said that starting his career as a newspaper supplier, Gangadhar Hiregutti, since his childhood had dreamed of serving in the journalism world. He had served as a district correspondent for Uttara Kannada at ‘Mungaaru’ for nearly ten years. Later, he launched a Kannada daily ‘Karavali Munjavu’ in Karwar. At present, this newspaper has become one of the most popular newspapers in the state. His dedication in the journalism field has made him achieve the prestigious Hanumantra Award and National Award.
It is a matter of pride for us to confer the 'Vadrase Raghuram Shetty Award' to Gangadhar Hiregutti, who has dedicated himself to the promotion of Social thinking in the field of journalism, Prabhakar added.
According to Prabhakar, the award ceremony will be held at Bunt Bhawan in Brahmavar at 4.30 PM on October 11.
