1 killed, 20 injured as Tanker and Bus collides head-on near Byndoor

Byndoor: In a horrible road accident that took place between speedy tanker and a private bus on Nagoor NH66, resulted in the death of tanker driver, while more than 20 passengers including bus driver received multiple injuries. Among the injureds, 3 victims are reported serious and were immediately taken to Manipal hospital after providing initial treatments at Kundapur hospital. The accident happened in the evening of 27th March, Monday.

It is said that, the incident reported when private bus was moving towards Bhatkal from Kundapur, while oil tanker was approaching from opposite direction. Both vehicles were seen moving speedily, which made them collide each other on Nagoor NH66. The impact of collision was so horrible that, the bus was seen completely damaged right from driver seat till the rear portion, while the front portion of tanker too was damaged.

Sources say, the oil tanker was moving towards Mangaluru from Hubli. When the incident happened.  A bike rider who was moving on the highway too came under the net of this incident. Fortunately, he escaped with minor injuries.

The seriously injured tanker driver was immediately taken to Kundapur hospital, but unfortunately on the way he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased tanker driver has been identified as Narayan Achar (40), Shimoga based resident staying in Udupi.

Except 3 seriously injured passengers, other injureds were admitted to Kundapur hospital.

The traffic breakdown for more than half hour was seen after the incident, after which the police personnel cleared the road and made the way.

A case has been registered in Byndoor police station.
