Mangaluru: The DK Muslim Sanghatanagela vedike launched a protest condemning the vilification campaign against the televangelist and Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik at Mangaluru on July, 16 in front of the DC office.

Speaking as the chief guest at the protest,  Jamaat-e-Islami-Hind Mangaluru president Mohammed Kunhi demanded that the investigation agencies should probe into the hate speeches and inflammatory remarks threatening the internal peace and security of the nation the same way they have probed the speeches of  Zakir Naik.

The 50-year old Islamic preacher came under the central agencies scanner after a recent terror attack in Dhaka where a terrorist was said to be inspired by his speeches.

The central and state agencies were quick on their feet to investigate his speeches and the media houses labeled him as a terrorist at the drop of a hat.

Even MP Anantkumar Hegde had made a controversial statement that 'Peace will return only if Islam is destroyed' while Sakshi Maharaj calling killer Nathuram Godse as martyr. Why is only Zakir Naik speeches investigated?"he enquired.

"The investigation agencies have found no substantial evidence that he incited terrorism or any other form of violence. "he added. He demanded that all kinds of derogatory comments from individuals,  triggering communal tensions should be brought before law and stringent actions must be taken.

He asked the reporters as to why ISIS is linked to Islam. "Islam never encourages terrorism in any form," he proclaimed.  "When you don't link a devil to it's religion, why is ISIS presented as a form of Islamic terrorism?"

PFI state secretary Shafi Ballary, addressing the protestors, said: "The allegations are a conspiracy to strip away the religious freedom. The fascist ideologies are trying to weaken the constitution,  secularism,  unity and peace." He advised everyone to be united against the fascist forces.
