Mangaluru: The District Women’s Congress in front of the DC office, staged a protest against the hike in price for cooking gas by the Union government, here on March 17.

The members of the District women’s Congress yelled slogans against the Union government led by Narendra Modi. They also used the firewood to prepare tea and presented a skit on the hike in cooking gas.

The protest was inaugurated by the district congress president in-charge, Ibrahim Kodijal. Addressing the protesters Ibrahim Kodijal said, “Before the elections, the BJP had promised to provide all essential commodities at an affordable price but now the BJP government led by Prime minister Narendra Modi has hiked the price of all the essential commodities. The hike in the price of cooking gas has brought tears to the eyes of all women, the present price for cooking gas is not affordable to most of the people. The district congress condemns the hike in the price of cooking gas”.

The President of the District Women’s Congress, Shalet also spoke on the occasion. Former Mayors Hilda Alva and others were also present.
