Detention Centre to come up in Uttara Kannada district soon

Karwar: Director General and In- spector General of police  (DG &1GP) of State Praveen Sood has stated that adetention centre has started functioning near Nelamangala in Bengaluru, where the foreigners who are staying in the State even after expiry of their visa are being Detain.

On the same lines, a detention centre will also be opened in Uttara Kannada district in the coming days, he added.

Speaking to media persons during his visit to the office of Superintendent of Police, Sood said, a strict vigil is being kept on the foreigners who are staying in the State after expiry of their visas. Such foreigners will be taken into custody and after contacting their respective embassies, arrangements are being made to sent them back, he said.

Discussion was held regarding the increasing road accidents in the district. Every year, nearly 200 people are losing lives in road mishaps in Uttara Kannada. To avoid mishaps, the dangerous crosses on roads have been identified as Black Spots and their information is being given to the Public Works Department for further action, he informed.

At present, 219 houses have been given for the district police. According to the proposal of superintendent of police, there is need for 500 houses and the proposal will be in cluded in Police Gruha 2025 scheme to be implemented next year, Praveen said.

The civil police constable jobs will be filled by April 2021. After six months, recruitment will be held for reserve police division too, he said and clarified that there are no issues pertaining to promotion in the department.
