Department of Education prepones examination schedules amid Coronavirus fears in Karnataka

Bhatkal: As Coronavirus has spread throughout the world, the number of Coronavirus infections in the country is increasing day by day.  The virus has also impacted on the annual exams of students as the Department of Education has called for modification in the exam schedules.

The Department of Education has changed the exam schedule for 1st to 6th grade students, and 8th and 9th grade. The exams for 7th and 10th grades will be conducted as per the earlier specified schedule. 

The Department of Education on Tuesday instructed the Deputy Director of the Public Education Department in all districts to prepone the exams of students on the background of the high prevalence of Coronavirus fears.

As per the instructions from Commissioner, it has been decided to conduct the examination from tomorrow, March 11. In Karwar educational district, the examination for one to sixth-grade students will complete by March 16, while eight and ninth-grade students will be required to complete the exams by March 23. On the other hand, students from grades one to six, eight and ninth in the Sirsi educational district have been ordered to complete the exams from March 11 to 17.

On following the instructions, the DDPIs of both the educational districts have sent a new schedule to the BEOs of each taluk by changing the exam dates. The BEOs have also instructed all schools' headteachers to change their schedules by announcing on the school's main notice board. All government, aided and unaided schools have been ordered to complete the examination within the stipulated time.
