Dandeli: Two forest officials were nabbed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel, when they were found accepting Rs. 5,000 as bribe at Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district on 26th April, Wednesday.
The officers said that they caught deputy range forest officer Y T Kalal and forest guard Shivasharan Koli red-handed, when they were taking Rs 5,000 bribe from Sunil Kamble.
Recently, Kamble was caught bringing dry waste wood from the forest area to make bricks for the construction of his house, and the forest officials demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe.
They threatened to register various cases against him for looting forest wood, if he failed to deliver the same. Later, the amount was negotiated at Rs. 5,000.
Sunil approached the Karwar ACB team and narrated the incident a couple of days back and reacting to it, the ACB team visited Dandeli on Wednesday and were able to catch the officials red-handed.
"Both the forest officials have been taken into custody"said the ACB DySP Girish while talking to reporters.
"After inquiry, they will produce them before court on Thursday", he added.
