Yellapur: A gang of four dacoits made away with old ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees from two houses at Jagarmane coming under Hitlalli gram panchayat limits in Yellapur taluk recently.

The dacoits caught hold of Nagaraj Ganesh Hegde (45) of Jagarmane who was engaged in some work in his backyard at around 9:00 pm. They threatened him and gained entry to his house. They then forced him to open the door of the cupboard and made away with Rs 6,000 and two silver finger rings worth Rs 2,000. Surprisingly, before leaving the house, they had buttermilk at his house.

Later, they went to the house of Nagaraj Ganesh Hegde’s uncle Gopal Devendra Hegde which is half a kilometre from Nagaraj’s house. They broke the door and threatened the family which stayed back on the roof of the house. Then, the dacoits made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 2.61 lakh kept in the cupboard and Rs 1.5 lakh cash.

It is said that the dacoits had worn masks and were speaking in Hindi.

Police and finger print expert team inspected the crime spot.
