Karwar: The Center had earlier announced that any district witnessing more than six cases of Coronavirus would be considered as a hotspot. On Wednesday, the government divided the districts into three divisions, in which the Uttara Kannada was listed among the orange zone, which comes as a relief to the citizens.
The Union Health Ministry has declared 170 districts in the nation as COVID-19 hotspots, in which 8 among these are from Karnataka state. While in the remaining districts, 11 each have been named as orange zone and green zone.
The districts were categorized after considering the number of cases and precautionary steps taken to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Even though Uttara Kannada is categorized as an orange zone, the administration shall continue monitoring the district strictly as more people have arrived from abroad, and Bhatkal will be still considered as red zone area. It should be noted that there won't be any changes in the lockdown rules in this regard.
