Udupi: The Udupi police have set up 32 check posts in various places in the district to check unnecessary movement of vehicles except those transporting essential commodities during the lockdown period.

While eight check posts have been established on the borders of Uttar Kannada, Dakshin Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts, 24 check posts function round the clock within the district.

The police have been making periodic announcements through the public address system about implementation of prohibitory orders and seeking the cooperation of the public by staying indoors, said Additional Superintendent of Police Kumarchandra on Wednesday.
