Covid-19: Two suspected patients in Kumta test negative

Kumta: The 72-year old Swedish woman and a Bellary based youth, who were admitted to Karwar Hospital after initial treatment at Kumta govt hospital over suspected Corona Virus infection have tested negative in the tests. The reports from Shivamogga McCann laboratory, where the samples of the both were sent, confirmed that they were not infected with Corona Virus, informed Kumta Assistant Commissioner M Ajith.

Speaking with media, he said that both were admitted to the Karwar Hospital after one of them had symptoms of fever and cough since a week, and another had symptoms of sickness. On receiving the reports, the Health Department shifted them to the isolation ward at Karwar Hospital in an ambulance.

He further informed that as per the orders from District Administration, the Taluka Administration is taking all kinds of precautionary steps. People should stop falling to rumours and need not panic. Every citizen coming from outside is being screened. No case of Coronavirus has been detected in Kumta until now. 

Four screening centres are operating in the Taluk if anyone found suspect, need immediately to inform the officials of Taluka administration, he said.
