Covid-19: Private hospitals asked to admit suspected cases

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Friday instructed all private hospitals in the Udupi district to arrange isolation wards with two beds and not to deny admission to people with Covid-19 symptoms.

Mr Jagadeesha also stated that ten beds in the District hospital, five in Taluk hospital and 10 in Kasturba hospital at Manipal have been set aside for COVID-19 patients. Besides, an isolation ward will be set up in the new library building with thirty beds.

Mr Jagadeesha said that about 200 people have arrived in the district from abroad and all have been home quarantined. Anybody violating the quarantine will be arrested. Thirteen people who were on the same flight in which a Kasargod resident who later turned out COVID-19 positive have also been home quarantined.
