Covid-19: Health desks in bus stand, railway stations

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar has stated that health desks will be set up in bus stands in all taluk headquarters and railway stations in Uttara Kannada district to keep a check on the spread of Covid-19.

Speaking at a meeting of taluk health officers in Karwar on Thursday, the DC said that such health desks will be set up at Gokarna, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal and Karwar railway stations. Awareness should be created such that travellers voluntarily seek information at these help desks. Health check-up will be held using thermal scanners in the next 48 hours.

He asked all the medical officers to report to the District Health & Family Welfare Officers in case they find fever and other symptoms related to Covid-19 among patients approaching them. Care units will be set up at Manki, Kumta and Karwar Navy Hospitals. Information on those coming from foreign countries must be gathered and they must be monitored for 14 days.

District Health & Family Welfare Officer G N Ashok Kumar, Dr Vinod Bhute and other medical officers were present.
