Karwar: Two government doctors, who are assigned on duty for treatment of COVID-19 victims, have been issued with notice by Zilla Panchayat CEO Mohammed Roshan for remaining absent.
Covid-19 victims in the district are being treated at the Navy's INS Patanjali Hospital in Karwar. The Zilla Panchayat CEO is In-Charge of the treatment system. He had identified government doctors and ordered them to attend for the medical duty. The two doctors, who were also among the identified, remained absent for the duties by keeping their mobile phones switched off.
Providing the information, Mohammed Roshan, cited for the reasons for the absence of the duo in reply to the notice. The next course of action against them will be decided within two days. He said that the government have been recommended to keep on hold the wages of both.
Adequate safety equipment and facilities are provided to doctors. Accommodation is provided near the treatment site. It is advised to wear personal protective equipment while treating. Therefore they are less likely to be infected. Hence, during the health emergencies it is not preferable to indifferent on duty, he warned.
