Coronavirus: Kumta Grocerys' Association withdraw lockdown decision after meeting Assistant Commissioner

Kumta: In view of the growing Coronavirus cases in Kumta, the Groceries' Association in Kumta had called for a week-long closure of grocery shops to curb the spread of this deadly virus. But in the public interest, Assistant Commissioner Ajit has intervened and persuaded the shopkeepers to withdraw their decision to close the shops.

According to the reports, the president of the Grocery Traders' Association has contracted with the COVID disease along with some other shopkeepers have also fallen victim to this virus. In addition, the number of cases in the town is increasing day by day. In view of all this, the Association had decided to shut the grocery shops for a week from 16th September.

Assistant Commissioner Mr Ajit M chaired a meeting with the secretary of the Association and other officials, explained to them that the lockdown would not be an effective step to control Corona. "This would be an unscientific move", he noted saying, "strict adherence to instructions such as wearing masks and hand gloves and maintaining social distance can help in controlling corona".

In this regard, the Assistant Commissioner has also issued instructions to the Municipal officers to monitor the situation. After the meeting with Assistant Commissioner, the Association withdrew the decision of lockdown.
