Karwar: Karnataka State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai urged the Muslim community to cooperate in the holy month of Ramazan in curbing the spread of Coronavirus.
Speaking with the Uttara Kannada district Muslim community leaders through video conferencing on Friday, he asked them not to host Iftar gatherings and also said to follow the directions provided by the Wakf Board in this regard. If any changes are made in the laws, the information will be provided, he said.
"Officials must take community people to confidence. Coronavirus has been detected only in Bhatkal in the entire Uttara Kannada district, and it should be checked that it won't spread in other places", he noted.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar speaking on this occasion, said that Covid-19 is in control in the district. Nine out of the eleven infected people from Bhatkal have recovered and are discharged. He informed the Minister that there was no problem in the remaining taluks.
District Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju, Karwar Assistant Commissioner Priyanga M and Muslim leaders were present on this occasion.
