Uttara Kannada district women's Congress holds protest against demonetisation move in Karwar

Karwar:  The members of Uttara Kannada district Mahila Congress committee staged protest, in Karwar, on Monday, alleging that the center’s move of demonetization cause adverse impact on country’s economy.

They took out a protest rally from Mitra Samaj ground to DC office raising slogans against the Centre for causing inconvenience to common people by not initiating appropriate measures to address their woes after demonetization.

Addressing the protestors, Kumta MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty said, initially everyone supported PM Narendra Modi’s move. However, later people realized its adverse impact on them. All people including farmers, labourers and poor are facing many problems due to this move, she claimed.

District Mahila Congress president Tara Gawda stated that housewives too were affected by demonetization of high value currency notes. They faced problems to deposit their savings in the banks and the Centre’s move caused problem to common people, she alleged. She criticized the PM for promising the Indians of unearthing black money in 50 days, and then pushing the economic condition of the country to the brink of disaster.

The protestors also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul which was addressed to PM Narendra Modi

State vice president of Mahila congress Sushma Reddy, also spoke on the occassion and critised Modi's move against demonitisation. Gayatri, Kalavati, Tara Gouda and others took part in the protest.
