Mangaluru: KPCC vice president Madhu Bangarappa said that the Congress will reach out to voters and highlight the failures of the BJP government in an organised manner to win more seats in the region in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Any differences of opinion in the party will be sorted out and Congress will be strengthened from the grassroot level, he told reporters at Congress Bhavan on Tuesday.
To a query, he said Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s followers holding his 75th birthday bash in Davangere and the month-long event, Siddaramotsava, can be utilised for strengthening the party.
He said the BJP has lost the trust of the people and just like the British who came to India for trade, BJP is engaged in business, which is evident in the recent toppling of the government in Maharashtra.
BJP should be renamed as ‘Business Janata Party,’ he said.
‘Navasankalpa Shibira,’ a brainstorming session, was organised at the district level to strengthen the party, he added.
Later, such camps will be organised at the Assembly constituency and block level as well. “I am confident of Congress coming back to its glory in the coastal belt,” he said.
“If one compares the contributions of BJP and Congress before voters, then people will surely know that all welfare schemes were initiated during the Congress era,” said Bangarappa.
“BJP is engaged only in raking up religious issues. It was Congress that started the Narayana Jayanti programme in Karnataka. What did BJP do?” he asked.
The change in the state is inevitable. Those who fell for BJP have realised that BJP is not moving on the right path, he said.
The former MLA from Sorab condemned Sangh Parivar members for stopping a play midway.
On the raid on properties belonging to Chamarajpet MLA and Congress leader B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, the former MLA said, “We will have to see more such raids as the election is nearing. We leaders are all ready for such raids. The tradition of hate politics is not correct.”
