With 11,919 fresh cases, India's COVID-19 tally has climbed to 3,44,78,517, while the number of active cases has gone up to 1,28,762, the Union health ministry said on Thursday. The death toll due to the viral disease has shot up to 4,64,623 with 470 more fatalities, according to the ministry's data updated at 8 am.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday moved a breach of privilege motion against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the West Bengal Assembly.
The motion was moved by party MLA Tapas Roy for filing the charge sheet in the Narada scam without getting the sanction of the Assembly speaker.

India is among 60 countries on track to achieve the global target of a 30 per cent reduction in tobacco use by 2025, according to the fourth World Health Organization's global tobacco trends report.
As per the report, the number of tobacco users have decreased globally to 1.30 billion in 2020 from 1.32 billion in 2015. This is expected to continue to drop to 1.27 billion by 2025.
